CANADA DAY 150
CITY OF WHITEHORSE, 2017 / Event Production and Management

THE PROBLEM
How do you host an epic Canada Day celebration with entertaining programming all day long that will engage audiences of all ages?
THE SOLUTION
SMRT POP UPS and Pixie Ingram Consulting worked with local community groups and partners - Adaka Festival, Multicultural Association, and L’AFY - to program an event that would reflect the rich diversity of Whitehorse.
The event featured three stages showcasing local and international talent. We the support of Adaka Festival, a number of Indigenous performance groups - from as far away as New Zealand - were featured at the event. Multi-award winning July Talk headlined the festival bringing out thousands of attendees for a once-of-a-lifetime performance. Local artists hosted workshops throughout the afternoon and face painters from L’AFY roamed the festival grounds.
SMRT POP UPS and Pixie Ingram Consulting worked with Fleming Security and a network of emergency response teams to create a safety plan for the event and to anticipate possible safety scenarios.
THE RESULTS
The event brought together 10,000 attendees for an amazing all-ages evening celebration of music, food, and fun.
